Maria Paula's childhood memories

In my family we have many Christmas traditions since I have memory, is our favorite season and celebration. Is a moment to spend with the whole family, which is not very often because at other times of the year everyone has different plans or different schedules, but we know that in Christmas we will be all together at least once a year.

Every year we start the celebration by going to mass with my cousins on December 24 in the afternoon. After that we all meet at my uncle’s house, Manuel, at 9 pm approximately.  We meet to receive the 12 together. Also, we prepare a special dinner. My uncle Susana always bring salad, my uncle Lorena cook the Turkey and pork because not everyone in my family eats Turkey, my mon and I always prepare together smashed potatoes with mozzarella cheese at the oven and apple puree, and my grandmother always bring a dessert.

When I was little, before 12 we used to have the tradition of personifying the birth of baby Jesus with all my cousins. I used to be the virgin Mary, but we grew up and stopped doing it unfortunately. Then, at 12 o'clock we tend to light fireworks. My dad is in charge of bringing them, but the last years we have not been doing fireworks much because it is annoying for some people and for dogs. Almost at the end, we like to exchange gifts. And finally, we stay talking, dancing, laughing, and having fun until everyone goes home.

For me, is the best time of the year!
